Fall prevention is everyone's responsibility. Current evidence shows high rates of falls across all healthcare settings, especially in the long term care environment. For many older adults, falling can be a travesty highlighted by significant after effects. Healthcare professionals are poised to help prevent falls and serious injuries, when equipped with the right skills, knowledge and tools.
Licensed medical care nursing homes and facilities are legally obligated, to provide acceptable standards of care to ensure the well-being and safety of it's residents. Failure to provide due diligence for preventable falls, could result in litigation and/or monetary fines.
The Fall Prevention Group, is dedicated to helping healthcare organizations and it's front-line nursing staff, adopt the right set of skills, knowledge and tools to reduce and/or prevent falls.
Services Available
Falls can be prevented when healthcare organizations work collaboratively with subject knowledge experts to engage all health care providers and staff to use evidenced-based approaches based on current fall theory and clinical skill assessment along with interdisciplinary education, institutional protocol and fall prevention resources. We provide individualized assessments and consultations to the primary care providers on a case by case basis as needed.
Consultation
Individual consultation of older adults experiencing falls is provided by Medicare approved Practitioners associated with the Fall Prevention Group. This service is covered by Medicare.
Education
A series of interactive learning modules for various levels of healthcare administration and staff, including professional nurses and advanced practiced nurses are available.
Clinical Skills
Training Clinical experts provide personalized consultation with administrative and clinical staff to assess their needs and skills, identify deficiencies related to fall prevention and develop action plans for correction.
Resources / Tools
Resources for fall prevention have been designed for healthcare administrators and practice professionals, included are guidelines for creating a culture of safety as recommended by the Institute of Medicine.
